DAG 1:
— First game drive in the Masai Mara

Arrive at 0540hrs on EK 717 and we will transfer you to the Wilson airport for your 1000hrs flight to the Masai Mara. 1100hrs as you disembark your plane at Olkiombo Airstrip at 1100hrs one of our friendly and knowledgeable Maasai Guide – the true experts – is standing ready to take you on your very first Game Drive in one of our tailor-made 4×4 Safari Land Cruisers. During your drive you will be introduced to the exceptional wildlife of the Masai Mara, including thriving populations of lions, elephants, cheetah and leopards. You will arrive at Basecamp Masai Mara – our very own cradle of mankind – for lunch, freshly prepared by our trained team of Maasai chefs. After lunch wander around the camp compound and reconnect with your far-travelled self while you take in the tranquillity of BCMM. At 4pm meet your Maasai Guide to explore new dimensions of the Savannah during your Afternoon Game Drive. DAG 2:
— Camp walk
— Community

Rise early for the first-morning game drive in Masai Mara National Reserve. Snacks, tea, and coffee will be ready before you embark on your game drive. Your knowledgeable Masai guide will take you on an unforgettable safari. Enjoy driving across the vast Mara Plains and keep your eyes open, for anything is possible in the wilderness! Spot lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard and cheetah. Watch out for the abundance zebra, impala, wildebeest, grant’s gazelle, eland, topi and giraffe grazing side by side. Later, head back to camp where breakfast awaits you. After having breakfast you will set out for a Camp walk adventure. During your walk, you will be introduced to some of the operational elements that have made Basecamp a leading pioneer in responsible tourism. Your Camp Walk includes a visit to the Basecamp Maasai Brand workshop, one of our capacity-building projects that employ 118 women. End your camp tour with an optional tree planting session, just like the Obama family. At midday a freshly prepared lunch will be served underneath the trees overlooking the Maasai Mara National Reserve. At 1530hrs depart for the afternoon game drive in the Masai Mara.

DAG 3:
— The private Naboisho conservancy

Rise with the sun in time for your Morning Game Drive. Greet those herbivores fortunate enough to survive the night; congratulate the lions happily feasting on freshly killed prey. After breakfast at Basecamp Masai Mara, check out and prepare to continue your journey through the Basecamp Circuit. Your next destination is Eagle View Camp, which in 2013 made the National Geographic Travellers Magazine’s list of the twenty-five top eco-lodges in the world– the only one in Kenya. At 4 pm meet your Maasai Guide for your Afternoon Game Drive. Eagle View is situated inside Naboisho Wildlife Conservancy, a 20,000 hectare (50,000 acres) large nature conservancy leased directly from more than 500 Maasai families. Inside Naboisho the number of vehicles permitted is strictly limited. This has the double advantage of attracting a wide array of species as well as creating a more exclusive viewing experience for tourists. Inside Naboisho you will encounter the Northern Migration of wildebeest, the not-so-distant relative of the wildebeest migrating from the Serengeti that you meet in the National Reserve. The wildebeest of the Northern Migration walk down from the Lloita Plains in the North in search of fresh grass and water, exactly like their southern relatives. As you drive, enjoy the varied landscape of Naboisho, presently offering the highest density of lions on the planet.

— Sundowners

Start your day with a Morning Game Drive, followed by a picnic breakfast on the savannah. After your Game Drive visit the students at Koiyaki Guiding School, a capacity-building institution supported by Basecamp Explorer. Return to camp for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive. Round off your Afternoon Game Drive with a Basecamp Sundowner on the savannah. Drive back to Eagle View in the dark. Your guide will equip the car with infrared lights to allow you to spot the nocturnal animals of Naboisho. A Night Safari is an exhilarating experience, only to be enjoyed inside private conservancies like Naboisho.

DAG 5:
— A walking safari

Wake at dawn to join your Maasai Guide on a Morning Walking Safari across the savannah. Walking alongside the Maasai is an unforgettable experience, which perfectly echoes the wanderings of the wildebeest. On your walk your guide will show you the finer details of the savannah, including wildlife footprints and dung. Return for a full breakfast at the Eagle View. After a midday relaxation join your Maasai Guide for an Afternoon Walk or Game Drive, returning to camp in time for dinner and a final fireplace experience.

Dag 6:
— An end is just another beginning

This is the last day of your safari in the Mara Naboisho Conservancy! After an morning game viewing the herds of grazing animals, plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs, head back to camp and enjoy a breakfast. After breakfast, head to your room to pack up as you get ready to say your goodbyes to the African Bush. At mid-day you will have lunch and say your goodbyes. Depart for Nairobi with a game drive en-route to the Naboisho Air Strip in time for your scheduled 4pm flight. Arrive at 1700hrs and our driver will transfer you to the Carnivore restaurant for dinner and later drop you off at the Jomo Kenyatta International airport for your onward flight EK 722 departing at 2245hrs.
